Explore and integrate data
Two viewers are available in EDITO. One enables data exploration, focused on Copernicus Marine and EMODnet data, and a second one allows data integration. EDITO users can share their data through the integration viewer and visualize it directly from the interface.
Note: These two viewers are temporary. In the future, a single unified viewer will be used for both data visualization and integration. Note: As mentionned in the documentation, you will need to have Copernicus Marine credentials to download Copernicus Marine and EMODnet data on the EDITO MyOcean Viewer.
Key differences between explore and integrate
| Dimension | EXPLORE | INTEGRATE |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | Official Copernicus Marine & EMODnet datasets | Official Copernicus Marine & EMODnet datasets & User datasets |
| Access mode | Read-only | Publish, manage, share |
| Technical level | Low | Medium to high |
| Complexity | Simple | Advanced |
| Main objective | Discovery and visualization | Integration and operational use |
How to integrate data?
There are two ways to integrate data within the viewer:
- Use the integration API. For more information, see the Interact with the Data API documentation
- Use the Stacify service, which provides a graphical interface for the API endpoints
How to use Stacify?
Complete STAC metadata: After starting Stacify, fill in the “STAC Organization” section with:
- A collection
- A catalog (new or existing)
- A parent catalog (if needed)
Add your dataset: Point to your NetCDF/Zarr dataset folder. Store it in “My Files” (EDITO permanent storage) and ensure it’s publicly shared.
Preview your catalog: Review the generated catalog in step 2.
Publish to STAC API:
- Upload your STAC-formatted catalog to EDITO permanent storage
- Enter your EDITO credentials (username and password) in the “EDITO Authentication” section (bottom left)
- Obtain an access token and publish to the STAC API
